First Impression on Critical Literacy

Hello and Assalamualaikum. As for my first post, I’m going to write about my first impression of Critical Literacy (CL) subject. Based on its name “critical”, already makes me scared to death since I’m not that kind of person who loves to think critically. I just look things based on its surface. I’m not that kind of person who will look in depth about certain topics. Added with seniors’ sharing knowledge about critical literacy make me feel even more scared to carry this subject throughout this semester 4 period of time. I’ve heard many of the seniors keep saying that critical literacy is a hardcore or killer subject for semester 4 students.

Honestly, I keep frowning because I’m stressed of thinking how hard the subject would be, how strict the lecturer could be when I first entered Critical Literacy class. However, my perception changed. The class was so much fun. The introduction attracts me to know more about what Critical Literacy is all about. Special thanks to Sir Kamaraziz aka Sir Mark who has successfully changed my perception. The old saying was right “you wouldn’t love something until you come to know about it”. Sir Mark told us, in Critical Literacy, you should suspend your emotion. Put away your own judgement. Try to think from another side. And the most important part is, in critical literacy, you have to question the statements given until it can’t be argue anymore. It sounds hard since you have to do lots of research in order to make your statement a champion.

Despite of thinking hard of the ways to pass this subject, I’ll make sure that I will enjoy it as well. It may be hard, but I will try my best to make Sir Mark proud of me. I’ll also do myself some favour as well which is to train myself to think critically and change the habit of putting my own judgement as the first priority. That’s all for my first post. Thank you. Let’s get along Critical Literacy.šŸ˜‰
